Canonization of New Saints by the Ecumenical Patriarchate

In July 2013, after a proposal made by His Eminence Metropolitan Paul of Drama, David Komnenos, last Emperor of Trebizond, Basil, George, Manouel (his sons) and Alexios (his nephew), were declared Saints, through an official Act of Canonization by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Their memory will be celebrated on 1th November, which is the date of their martyrdom.

Tragic event in Kimlawis, Philippines

Yesterday (Sunday, July 28), at the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Luke in Hong Kong, after the Divine Liturgy we offered a Trisagion Prayer for the repose of the soul of a 19 year old man, named Santiago. The young man was a nephew of the leader of the Orthodox community at Kimlawis in Philippines. He was killed by members of the Blaan tribe, in the name of a barbaric pagan custom. A month ago a member of the tribe Blaan has been killed in Kimlawis.

I regret to inform you that the following individuals, who reside in Taiwan, 1.Kiril Shkarbul, 2.Seraphim William Davinson created a schismatic “church”, the so called “Taiwan Orthodox Church”, and thus they excommunicated themselves and abandon the Orthodox Church-the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I consider them as strangers to the Body of the Orthodox Church and I inform you that they have no the right to call themselves as “Orthodox Christians” and to participate in the Holy and Sacred Sacraments of the Orthodox Church.
