On Friday, May 8, 2015, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Basilika of Saint John the Theologian in Ephesus of Asia Minor. Built by Emperor Justinian in the sixth century over the grave of the Apostle John, the church is now in ruins though the grave is still preserved in the altar area.
