Hong Kong Catholic Bishop Michael Yeung dies at 73

It is with great sadness that the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Hong Kong and South East Asia learned of the death of Bishop Michael Yeung Ming-cheung of the Catholic Church in Hong Kong.

Metropolitan Nektarios of Hong Kong and South East Asia, on behalf of the Orthodox Metropolitanate, expresses his prayerful condolences and extends his sympathy to all those who mourn and especially to the clergy and the entire Catholic Community in Hong Kong. 

May our Lord give rest to the soul of Bishop Michael Yeung Ming-cheung in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose.

Michael Yeung Ming-cheung (Chinese: 楊鳴章; 1 December 1945 – 3 January 2019) was the 8th Roman Catholic Bishop of Hong Kong. He was consecrated on 30 August 2014, became the coadjutor bishop of the diocese on 13 November 2016,  and succeeded Cardinal John Tong Hon as the Bishop of Hong Kong on 1 August 2017.
